How to Forward GoTo Connect Missed Calls to LeadTruffle
Choose a GoTo Connect dial plan or Find Me/Follow Me route for unanswered calls, then check the LeadTruffle destination and test before going live.
Quick Answer
tl;dr: A shared GoTo Connect business number may use a dial plan, while an individual's extension may use Find Me/Follow Me. Identify the current route, configure the verified unanswered-call destination and test it. No single menu path works for every account.
Choose the route you need
Shared business number: ask an administrator to check the dial plan for the number. This is where the telephone operations, schedules and back-up locations for the business can be controlled.
Single user extension: review extension settings of a user. If the dial plan of the main business number changes, this change will not take effect in personal routing.
All incoming calls: ordinary forwarding β forwards calls without testing your team first. Only use it if this is what you want.
Before you start
Obtain proper GoTo permissions, verified LeadTruffle destination and a copy of your current routing. Decide if the destination will be able to provide AI voice answering or some other configured workflow. Ensure that the external destinations are supported in the respective GoTo configuration.
The interfaces and permissions of GoTo's change. Along with your existing account, utilize the official dial-plan guide or Find Me/Follow Me guide.
1. Identify the number and its current destination
Have your administrator inspect where the public number routes today. Document any dial plan, ring group, queue, user and schedule that was used. To get an extension for a personal one, see its own routing, not the routing of the public one.
Make a note of the current settings so they can be re-stored if testing is unsuccessful.
2. Define when calls should reach LeadTruffle
Select which calls to choose: unanswered calls, calls after hours or all calls. These are various provisions.
If the number is the same, check existing dial plan with your administrator for ringing and fallback. If it is an extension for the person, go over its ring sequence and where it will end up. Double-check if the chosen configuration will route it out at the desired location before entering the LeadTruffle number.
3. Configure the confirmed destination
Enter the LeadTruffle destination in the verified route by your administrator. You can keep your team's first ring if you need missed call coverage.
See if the current voicemail destination responds first, if your destination is scheduled to bypass and if a mandatory acceptance action would preclude automated answering. Try not to return the destination to the same call path.
4. Save and test each intended scenario
Save the validated configuration. From outside a phone line, place a call that your team answers, a call to which no one answers and an after hours call (if applicable). Look for busy or unavailable behavior as well if appropriate as it could take a different line.
Ensure that the caller is connected to the right experience and the call is recorded in LeadTruffle. If a route acts in an unusual way, reset the previous configuration and check the dial plan or user configuration that is causing the problem.
Confirm what happens after routing
Call forwarding does not automatically result in an SMS conversation. Confirm caller eligibility, consent and message behavior with missed call text back. Don't send duplicate messages from current automations.
CRM updates and booking depend on supported integrations and account setup. Review test conversations in the unified inbox.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Why do calls still reach voicemail?
The voicemail and/or the public number may have a different dial plan. Follow the real sequence of calls.
Will Find Me/Follow Me update our main business number?
Not by itself. Find Me/Follow Me changes routing for the user's extension, not the main number's shared dial plan. If the main number routes to that extension, those calls can follow the updated settings. Have your administrator review the shared dial plan separately.
Can I use all-call forwarding for missed calls?
All call forwarding alters who gets called. If you're looking to have your team ring first, use a verified no-answer route.
Why are the menu labels different?
The settings in and permissions granted to the GoTo are different. Use the current official assistance for your account and check the route with an administrator.
Does this guarantee instant texts or automatic dispatch?
No. Follow-up, timing and handoffs are determined by the product workflow(s) and caller interaction configured.
Trace your GoTo Connect route before changing it
Start with the number customers actually dial. Its shared dial plan may behave differently from an employee's Find Me/Follow Me settings, especially after hours. Knowing which route owns the call makes the LeadTruffle handoff easier to test and maintain.
